In the beginning

Well, an adventurous start. The flights went without a hitch then with a major effort from Nick and Martin we boarded the overnight train to Siliguri. The highlight so far was Calcutta which is a mass of people, noise, colour and chaos. The markets around the station were something to behold, not many Europeans to be seen but an absolute eye opener. Managed to sleep for 8 hours overnight on the train and awoke just before getting off near Siliguri. We arrived at our very luxurious hotel and I had a shower for the first time since leaving on Friday. It's now 11am on Sunday and we've just had a team meeting to finalise our details at breakfast. A bit of sightseeing and having a look at the route for the rest of the day then a stretching session!!!!! Onwards and upwards.
